Neuronostics and The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust begin service evaluation of BioEP, a UKCA-marked digital tool designed to provide additional EEG analysis to support epilepsy diagnosis
Bristol, UK 12 December 2025 – Neuronostics, a pioneering MedTech company developing digital biomarkers for epilepsy care, has partnered with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust to undertake a structured service evaluation of BioEP, its UK approved diagnostic support tool for EEG analysis.
For the first time in UK routine practise, clinicians within the Neurology and Neurophysiology services will be utilising BioEP to analyse EEGs that are otherwise lacking informative epileptiform activity. BioEP provides a rating for the level of support that the EEG has been recorded from someone with epilepsy, offering an additional, objective source of information to support clinical decision making.
“Many people with suspected epilepsy leave hospital without firm answers and face an anxious wait for several months to undergo further tests,” said Phil Tittensor, Consultant Epilepsy Nurse at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Chairperson of the Epilepsy Nurses Association, “By embedding BioEP into everyday practice at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, we aim to better understand how BioEP can support more effective use of clinical resources and improve patient outcomes.”
The service evaluation aims to demonstrate how integrating BioEP into existing clinical pathways improves workflow efficiency and clinician confidence. It further aims to demonstrate how digital biomarkers enable more effective Neurology and Neurophysiology services.
The partnership builds on a strong foundation of collaboration between Neuronostics and Wolverhampton. The Trust participated in PRISTINE, Neuronostics’ first prospective utilisation study. PRISTINE demonstrated BioEP could improve both clinical confidence, as well as clinical concordance when assessing people with suspected epilepsy. The study is now complete, with results expected to be published during 2026. The current evaluation is expected to pave the way for a wider NHS rollout of BioEP across neurology services.
Professor John Terry, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Neuronostics, said: “We are pleased to be collaborating with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. This evaluation will help us better understand how to integrate BioEP in real-world clinical practice, helping clinicians make faster, more informed decisions.”
