Neuronostics secures £683k (gross) NHS contract to develop BioEP for paediatrics

Posted

Following the successful £100k Phase I contract in 2024, Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust via the Small Business Research Initiative has awarded us the follow-on contract to continue our development of BioEP to expand the usable age range to include paediatrics.

We will be conducting a phase II retrospective study called OASIS, the outcome of which will be an important step towards bringing the power of BioEP into paediatric care for the first time. Confirming epilepsy in children can be particularly challenging, due to the variety of ways in which seizures can present. BioEP, can address this challenge by providing an objective measure of the level of support for an epilepsy diagnosis ultimately improving care for children with epilepsy.

The OASIS study will involve collaboration with several NHS trusts across the UK, and the insights we gather will pave the way for regulatory approval and adoption of BioEP in paediatric neurology. OASIS has already received HRA approval and we commence data collection soon.

We will be working with those with lived experience of epilepsy or suspected epilepsy in children. If you would like to get involved or be informed of updates please get in touch!
